So you just completed your blog and are ready to publish, congratulations. Now begins the lengthy duty of trying to drive as much traffic to your blog as humanly possible.
The use of a ‘Backlinks List’ is a more convenient method of promoting your article and probably the most common as you will have to spend so much time visiting each site, registering if you are new and then promoting.
This way you have all the sites you need to visit and listed methodically helping you to remember where you have been and how many you have done.
Here is a little break down of the 4 categories and a list:
Social Book-Marking Sites
Is another effective way to gain traffic to your article, it simply replaces the bookmarks Tab in your Internet Browser and effectively lets you publicly bookmark your work, using key words or meta tags as a way of cataloguing the content you give. Due to the number of people using these sites daily you can potentially increase your visitor’s traffic from a wide audience.

Free Blog Directory
In short you can submit your blog to be catalogued in the websites directory usually filtered by a team of individuals working for the site. Your blog will be listed in categories of interests and on most sites your article appears on the front page first.

Social Bookmarking & Revenue Sharing Sites
Some of these sites work just like a bookmarking sites but give you the added incentive to earn from your adSense adverts, which include a referral tracker scheme to help monetise your efforts.

Rss Feed Site are quick and easy to use just submit your Rss Feed URL and away you go, this method has a great potential to expose your article/blog and receive the all important Traffic.

Another very nice Social bookmarking and revenue sharing site I've been using for a few months now is Ongobee. Not only they dofollow your links/bookmarks, but they also automatically affiliate them with Viglink, so besides Adsense revenue share they give you 80% revenue from your affiliated links (they don't overwrite your link if it's already affiliated, they just affiliate links that you haven't affiliated yet).

Good list. I ran across an affiliate program the other day that had done some research. They found that people who came to their sites from forums were most likely to purchase. So they created a tool so their affiliates could more easily identify and post their links at forums. But of course, it can also be used to back link to all one's sites/hubs. I thought that was pretty smart of that company. They essentially helped people build the kind of list you're mentioning... at least in the area of forums which are great for backlinking.
