Strategic Analysis of the Counter Attack

The counter attack is a strategic response to an imposing act of defiance or aggression usually associated with combat strategies in war, and fighting sports like boxing. Its primary direction is to implement a strategic response just immediately after your opponent or enemy has cast his move.

The aim is to strike a counter offensive that will make use of the momentum and direction of your opponent’s intent. With a sudden and devastating attack, that will take advantage of any weaknesses physically, strategically or psychologically and cause maximum infliction as either a deterrent or final execution.

  • To attack you must drop your guard, to drop your guard you expose your defences.

  • Know thy enemy as you know thyself

Probing Analysis, first you must evaluate your opponent’s strengths and then compare them to yours, if your opponent appears stronger then you; it’s now a game of winning the fight on a psychological level.

The counter attack is most effective when used wisely, as its timing must be precise and accurate. The key point is to not set any behavioural patterns or your opponent could predict your next move, each loss is a dent to the ego.

Win strategically piece by piece then you will have the psychological advantage, as wars are born in the minds of men, then they are executed in the fields of battle and then finally they are either victorious or defeated again in the mind.

All acts of aggression or confrontation are primarily a psychological battle that must be carefully evaluated and then strategically executed into action.

The assessment should be followed with an intricate play of testing and manoeuvres to either lead your opponent in a certain direction, where you can better manipulate them and expose their weakness for the final executing act to be delivered.

Life is a game of strategies?

Whether you are in business or fighting a campaign you will always be striving in a competitive world, ‘dog eat dog’ or whatever the saying maybe on the day, but be sure to take your game play serious.

Life is a game of strategies, so make sure you know your game and well.

In today’s world you better be equipped and ready if not physically then mentally, it is after all a thinking mans world ‘he who knows the game stays alive in the game’.

Pros and Cons of the Counter Attack

Pro, uses of the counter attack are determined by the way you use it, a steely eye for accuracy and an intuitive knowing for when to use it, followed by a determined attitude to finally execute it!

Cons, when using a counter attack are an inability to be meticulous and resolute in your intent, if you are not primed correctly for its use then be warned! Your opponent will see a weakness in your final execution and will use it against you with powerful effect.

The Final Execution or Act!

When you have played out your game plan of strategic manoeuvres, it’s always wise to keep an area of anticipation alive for that one and golden opportunity to bring in the final act or execution.

Game playing is all well and good if you enjoy the process but never forget the reason why you are competing? You are in it to win it!

Take hold of any opportunity that arises because a fated moment can pass you like a breeze, be meticulous and courageous in this final act and you will finally see the power of the counter attack manifest before your very eyes, be victorious!

mark, Very informative and well presented. I especially noted your warning against giving away clues of counter attack strategies. My friend James and I have had ongoing discussions in the 10 years of our friendship about hinting at counter measures; his position is that it's intimidating and might lead to capitulation by the opponent; my position is that "forewarned is forearmed." Some of my analogies are in sports and war: would opponents' withdraw or give up if they were told, "Retreat or I'll douse you with heavy fire in such-and-such-a-place," or "Give up or I'll hit you with my famous left hook." He gets the analogies at the time but we keep having this discussion. Perhaps his strategy is to wear me down, and I haven't been realizing that. Wow, what a clever counter attack.:-)

Well done. All the votes. Great work.

Kind regards, Stessily

Hello stessily,

Some good points you have raised and I guess it’s up to the individual and their intended use of strategies to be used? I personally if given the opportunity would execute whatever measurement it takes to get the job done! ;)

The counter attack is a very powerful strategy if it is timed right and executed with great intent, your friend maybe is a master of long psychological warfare, its time to have a plan stessily and put it into action! LOL ;)

Thanks for commenting.

Great information and I like how you incorporated a counter attack along with the business sense. It is a dog eat dog world; I think Warren Buffet said it best "Be fearful when those are greedy and be greedy when those are fearful"

It certainly is at its height a dog eat dog world and we need to be ahead of the game to survive and prosper, thanks for commenting.
